She Said “Yes!”

“I’m a little nervous,” he wrote in his message letting us know they would be about 10 minutes late.

He needn't have worried because,

SHE SAID, “YES!”

What an honor for Highland House Farm Stay, Ray and me to be part of this joyous occasion! You could not have asked for a more beautiful day, a kinder and more loving couple, or more caring and supportive friends. We have hosted birthday and anniversary celebrations, bachelorette parties, multi-generational family gatherings with and guests from all over the world, but this one takes the cake!

Why did Kenny Schuurman and Jordan want to have their surprise celebratory event take place at Highland House? You guessed it--our long-horned, long-haired heritage Highlands! These majestic Highlands, from the oldest registered fold of Highland cattle in the United States, are the reason nearly every guest has chosen Highland House Farm Stay or taken one of our Farm Tours. Kenny shared that Jordan has adorned their home with even more Highland decorations and memorabilia than Highland House--which I did not think possible!

Aside from the engagement surprise, like all Highland House Farm Stay guests Kenny, Jordan, Travis and Kerri enjoyed feeding apples to our 2000+ pound twin steers, Rob and Roy, and combing our Green Mountain Boy twin calves, Ethan and Allen. *For more on the miracle of twins Rob and Roy and Ethan and Allen, check out the story of their mother Shat Acres Raisin Pie (The Life of Pie) on my June 30th Facebook post, or our website under Janet's Blog.

And when the four friends departed for home, it was with a car full of our 100% Grass Fed and Finished Greenfield Highland Beef! After tasting our tender and delicious beef during their last visit, they ordered an entire cow to take home after this visit. All in individually vacuum sealed packages, their beef was boxed and ready to keep them fed and nourished until they return again next year!

What better setting to pop the question than our exquisite mountain vista resplendent in Vermont's fall foliage, with our majestic Highland Cattle standing behind the newly engaged cheering them on! Please join us in wishing Kenny and Jordan many, many years of health and happiness as they embark on this exciting journey together.

They already have the blessing of the animals.
